Mastering Netrunning in Update 2.0
Introduction: The New Netrunner
Cyberpunk 2077's 2.0 update completely overhauled hacking. Breach Protocol is gone from active combat (it's strictly for Access Points now). If you're still trying to play the old "ping and hide" style, you're missing out on the chaos of Overclock.
The Three Night City Challenges
1. The RAM Cap
You want to upload System Collapse, but it costs 28 RAM. You have 20. In the old game, you waited. In 2.0, you burn HP for RAM.
2. Trace Progress
Enemy netrunners optimize against you. Uploading hacks triggers a trace. If that bar fills, they reveal your location—or fry your brain.
3. Queue Mastery
Hacks now have combo multipliers. Contagion into Overheat causes an explosion. Cyberware Malfunction into Short Circuit deals massive bonus damage.
How Otagon Upgrades Your Cyberdeck
Build Analysis: Share your Perk Tree. Otagon identifies if you're missing critical synergies—like taking "Spillover" when you're running a contagion build.
Cyberdeck Selection: "Tetratronic Rippler vs. Arasaka Mk.5?" It depends. Otagon explains: Rippler is for combat combos, Arasaka is for stealth.
Gigs & Secrets: Stuck on a gig? Take a photo of the room. Otagon highlights the hidden vent or the camera control panel you missed.
Arasaka Tower Infiltration Strategy
- Recon: Camera Control is mandatory. Turn their eyes against them.
- The Combo: Upload Tier 4 Memory Wipe -> Reboot Optics -> Sonic Shock. This sequence (the "Ghost" combo) makes you invisible to the AI logic.
- Smart Weapons: Use the Yinglong SMG. It tracks enemies you've hacked.
Pro Tips
- Monowire Synergies: With the right perk, Monowire uploads a hack on hit. Save RAM, whip enemies.
- Overclock Healing: Combine Overclock with "Heal-on-Kill" cyberware. You burn HP to hack, kill enemy, get HP back. Infinite energy loop.
