FICSIT Milestones: Verticality & Logistics
Introduction: The Third Dimension
Factorio is 2D. Satisfactory adds gravity. And simpler resource nodes (infinite). The challenge isn't "running out of ore." It's "Moving 780 items/minute across a mountain range."
The Three Engineering Challenges
1. Coal Power Water Ratio
3 Water Extractors -> 8 Coal Generators. This is the golden ratio for Mk.1 Pipes (300m3 flow). Using a 1:2 ratio works but wastes power.
2. Manifolds vs. Balancing
Balancers (Splitter trees) are perfect but huge. Manifolds (Line of splitters) are compact but take time to "warm up." Tip: Use manifolds. Save your sanity.
3. Aluminum Layout
Bauxite -> Alumina -> Scrap -> Ingot. It produces Water as waste. You MUST recycle this water back into the start. If the waste water backs up, the system jams. Priority Junctions (Valves) are critical here.
How Otagon Solves Factory Math
Blueprint Designer: "How to build a 100% efficient Modular Frame factory?" Otagon: "You need 3 Assemblers for Reinforced Plates, 2 for Rods..."
Logistics Plan: "Trucks or Trains?" Otagon: "Distance is > 1km. Use Trains. Trucks are buggy on rough terrain and require fuel infrastructure."
Pro Tips
- Vertical Bus: Stack conveyor belts on walls. It keeps the floor clean for walking/building.
- Foundations: Use the World Grid (Hold Ctrl). If you don't, connecting factories later is a nightmare.
