Hardmode Survival & The Crafting Tree

Introduction: The Wiki Simulator

Terraria is famous for having 5,000 items and telling you how to craft none of them. When you enter Hardmode, the game changes. Wraiths float through walls. corruption spreads. Your copper sword is a toothpick.

The Three Progression Walls

1. The Hardmode Ore Tier

You need to smash Demon/Crimson Altars. But how many? (Smashing too many spawns random corruption blocks). Then you need to mine Cobalt/Palladium -> Mythril/Orichalcum -> Adamantite/Titanium.

2. The Mechanical Bosses

You can't mine Chlorophyte (the green jungle ore) until you beat all three mechanical bosses. They are massive difficulty spikes.

3. The Zenith

The ultimate sword. It requires swords from the entire game: Copper Shortsword, Starfury, Enchanted Sword, Terra Blade, etc. If you trashed your starter sword, you need to make a new character to get it.

How Otagon Organizes the Chaos

Crafting Assistant: "What do I need for the Ankh Shield?" Otagon lists the 12 components and where to farm them (e.g., "Farm Pixies in the Hallow for the Megaphone").

Boss Strategy: "How do I beat the Destroyer?" Otagon Suggestion: Build a box high in the sky. The Destroyer can't reach you. Shoot down through platforms with a Daedalus Stormbow.

Biome Finder: "Where is the Aether biome?" Otagon explains the generation rule: Jungle side, outer fifth of the map, underground.

Crafting the Terra Blade (Updated 1.4.4)

  1. Night's Edge: Blade of Grass + Muramasa + Volcano + Light's Bane at a Demon Altar.
  2. Excalibur: Hallowed Bars (from Mech bosses).
  3. True Versions: Combine with Broken Hero Sword (from Mothron during Solar Eclipse).
  4. Terra Blade: True Night's Edge + True Excalibur + Broken Hero Sword.

Pro Tips

  • NPC Happiness: Put the Witch Doctor in the Jungle for cheap wings. Put the Goblin Tinkerer underground.
  • Sunflower Buff: Plant sunflowers around your arena for movement speed and reduced spawn rates.
